I think this was the harder game for me and the better game for both players, both of us could have had good chances which made an exciting game to play in perhaps Joe missing 2 good chances on move 19 and then again on move 27. Black having the better from the opening and the middle game till then, made a move on move 27 that could have spelt the end of the advantage he had built up and could have given white a slight advantage if he had found the right moves when from then on black would have been really stretched to keep finding the right moves to stay in the game. Also white could have had an equal game on move 19 but did not find a difficult move which would have had black wondering what to do.} 1. e4 c6 2. f4 d5 3. e5 Bf5 4. Nf3 e6 5. d4 Nd7 {These are the same moves as back in February.} 6. Bd3 { Last time Joe played what I thought was a weak a3 This is a much better move for white} Nh6 7. Bxf5 {Castling is the correct continuation for white here.} Nxf5 {Black has a slight advantage with a good sqaure for the knight.} 8. O-O c5 9. c3 Rc8 10. Nbd2 $2 {I was concentrating to much on developing here and missed a simple Ne3 just seeing after move Bd7 with a follow up of castling but I was able to get the move in 2 moves later.} Be7 $2 {Not a bad move but I give it a question mark because I had not seen Ne3} 11. Nb3 $2 {not sure if Joe had seen Ne3 but moving the knight was not the answer as the Knight has to go back to d2 Qe2 was the correct move.} c4 12. Nbd2 Ne3 13. Qe2 Nxf1 14. Nxf1 O-O 15. Ng3 Re8 16. f5 exf5 17. Nxf5 f6 {not the best time to play this move as I was hoping for pxp Bxp leaving an attack on the queen} 18. e6 (18. exf6 Bxf6 {when black has a clear advantage}) 18... Nf8 (18... Bf8 $142 {could also have been played}) 19. Bf4 {Here a good move for White is Bh6 giving white an equal game Black has lost his advantage and has to play correctly to keep in the game.} (19. Bh6 gxh6 (19... Ng6 {maybe better but black still has a difficult game} 20. Bxg7) 20. Nxh6+ Kg7 21. Nh4 Ng6 22. N4f5+ Kf8 23. Nf7 Qb6) 19... Rc6 20. Rf1 Rxe6 (20... Ng6 21. N3h4 Nxh4 22. Nxh4 Bf8 23. Nf5 Rcxe6 24. Qh5 {I thought here Black had the advantage but as in previous games this year could not see how to make it count and played a bad move but I was attempting to go to an endgame where I thought I would end up having the better position.} (27. Qh5 Nh8 28. Nxg7 {cannot be played in this position.} Bxg7 29. Bh6 Bxh6 30. Qxh6 Ng6) 27... Ne7 $4 {This move could have allowed white right back in the game. I had seen what white played and thought correctly as it turned out to have a better endgame but I did miss Nxg7. I could have played either the following continuations.} (27... Nh8 28. Nh2) (27... Nf4 28. Bxf4 Rxf4 29. Re1 Re4 30. Rxe4 dxe4 31. d5 Qb6+) 28. Qxe8 {Fortunately for me White missed the following move as well and played what I had hoped he would play.} (28. Nxg7 Kxg7 29. Bh6+ Kg8 30. Qxe8) 28... Nxf5 29. Qxe6+ Rxe6 30. Re1 {Here I took a bit of a gamble as I was hoping he would see that I would have a slight advantage if he played RxR and he would have to move his Knight from f3 but better would have been RxR for me although in the end it turned out well for me and my plan succeeded.} Re4 (30... Rxe1+) 31. h5 Ng3 $1 32. h6 $4 {The losing move for white now he losses a piece and he never from here had a chance of getting back in the game.} Rxe1+ 33. Just keep them on the black squares so my bishop can take them. He does not have very many moves left..} 45. Kf4 Bc1+ { Do not want to let his king go to f5 which he can do if I play the move I would have liked Nb5} 46. Kf3 Bd2 47. Ke2 Bh6 48. Kf3 Kf7 {What one might call a waiting move} 49. Nc7 Bd2 50. Ke2 Bxc3 51. d5 Bxa5 {Here black resigned. A game not quite as well played as last week but its 2 wins in a row for me after a bad start to the season for me with 3 losses.} 0-1 [/pgn]
