The En Passant Cup team’s second outing this season was a rather poor quality match against Gravesend.

Tony Packham’s opponent blundered after only a few moves and Tony won quickly. Lee Brockwell blundered a pawn away on move 9, but nevertheless went on to win. Ian McAllan played black against Paul Rutland for the 11th time in their 14 games since 1987 and without any obvious blunder the game was drawn. Jamie Fountain and James Wagstaff both had achieved good positions but lost, while Greg Edwards lost three pawns. The result was 3.5 - 2.5 - to us! Greg’s opponent lost on time.

Ian McAllan
