Sidcup’s Intro Cup team played their third match of the 2014/15 season on Wednesday 19 November and registered a good 3-1 win against a young team from Eynford. Mark Lenette checkmated his opponent on board three followed closely by Phil Broughton a few seconds later on board four. Ken Smith fought hard but unfortunately lost to his opposite number on board one. Sarah Walker-Buckton played a very evenly matched game on board two and managed to turn the game in her favour in the last half-a-dozen moves to force a resignation from her opponent. This match marked the first win for the team this season, having drawn and lost the two previous ties. It was also Sarah’s first win for the club.
